I actually have met several older, long-married couples who have experienced role changes, where the dominant one either shares the leadership role or becomes the follower. In my experience though, most young couples and newlyweds don't survive very long when there's two bullheaded, dominant, 'my way or the highway' type personalities. As with ballroom dancing...one has to lead and the other one has to follow. I do admit though it's not that black and white.
