I Wrote This Story, I Think
Does it really matter?
What if a computer wrote this story? The worst that can happen is....nobody will read it. And I’ll make no money. And I’ll feel inadequate and question my judgment. And perhaps get so disappointed, I’ll write the most passive-aggressive, “I could’ve been a contender,” essay about never writing again because nobody reads good stuff anymore…and it’s just not worth all the aggravation and time commitment.
Some famous writers echo and parrot what their audience expects from them. They tend to stay in their lanes. So, a computer could easily be taught to automatically mimic their niche and writing style well enough to fool the average reader….right?
Win or lose, writing is like playing tennis
Those of us typing out witty, pithy, educational, and entertaining written content daily, know how our brains work. That mysterious gray matter sparks up an idea and our conscious mind weaves and transforms it into a powerful, organized, coherent, and compelling narrative.
A couple of days ago, I had an unpopular thought and opinion about writing. I’m actually writing largely for myself and my own pleasure….like my buddy in New York who gets up at 6 am to play tennis as a hobby and for the enjoyment of getting some cardiovascular conditioning…I’ll sometimes…
