They can’t tell the difference between humans and AI…and it’s just getting blurrier….

And, what about programs that correct spelling, and grammar, and re-arrange your words….is that still human?

Yes. I wrote this headline and subtitle, but it went through several computerized checks. One of them corrected a spelling error. Another corrected grammar and suggested I re-arrange my words to be more concise. And I took the advice….does that mean I cheated?

I asked ChatGpt why Medium stopped paying their writers and I’ll summarize what it said…to remain human:

  1. It mentioned changing revenue streams and how difficult it is for the Medium business model to turn a profit with so many writers making so much more than the cost of a $5 monthly subscription.
  2. It mentioned how Substack has eaten into Medium’s model and that Twitter (X) and other platforms offer better ways to monetize an audience.
  3. It suggested it could just be a computer glitch but suggested it was much more likely that Medium simply doesn’t have enough revenue to pay its writers while continuing to pay large corporate salaries (self-protection at the top).

AI can write better than most of us.
