My Dad and Mr. Miller
Oh, what a journey…
I’m a very lucky 55-year-old man.
While my mom has passed, my almost 84-year-old dad is alive and about to retire after over 50 years of practicing law with a wonderful, powerful, larger-than-life man named, James Fox Miller. Those of you linking to this article may know Mr. Miller from his musings and amazing stories enjoyed by thousands of people every day on Facebook.
While my Dad and Mr. Miller are different in many ways, I’d like to explore their amazing similarities — an insatiable love for living life, indescribably fierce loyalty to their friends and family, and an indestructible, timeless, ability to make people feel special and important and meaningful.
They both love this country and have benefited from it through education, hard work, and an unsurpassed level of generosity.
Love of living life
When I was growing up, Mr. Miller would say, “Great Country America” as a catchphrase that perfectly captured the wonder years of the 1970s and 1980s — tremendous economic growth paired with adventures of a lifetime.
On and off for years growing up, we’d have Sunday dinners together at restaurants in South Florida. We traveled to Colorado several winters just as Aspen was becoming one of the most exciting vacation spots…
