Adolescence

Sex not only makes the world go round but is a vital part of how we live our lives.

In fact, I’m sitting here in Starbucks and a lovely lady decided to sit at the table directly next to me— and smile. I felt a twinge of excitement. Did I do anything about it…nope.

But the point is I am still filled with the same potential desire of my adolescence….the blood’s still pumping, the mind’s still dreaming, and the body…..well, measurably less gymnastic, is still remarkably functional — like my old General Electric alarm clock which is missing a few buttons but has never failed to wake me up for over 30 years.

This really cute woman could’ve chosen to sit next to another late middle-aged, pale, balding, man — wearing outdated cargo shorts and no-brand sneakers — but, no, she choose to sit right next to me….and I’m suddenly transported back to seventh grade when this kind of event could’ve easily led to an embarrassing physiological phenomenon, unique to middle school boys.

The chaos, manic adrenaline, and unpredictability of our teenage years are so embedded in our minds, even those who develop cognitive and memory impairments oftentimes re-live their young adulthoods as if they're permanently…
