When Sex Is Transactional

Physical attraction, emotional connection, money, marriage, power imbalance, or deceit….sex is rarely free

We can debate at what point a man’s deceit, lies, or hollow promises go from a bold, vain, selfish desire to get the other person to have sex with him…into unwanted sexual coercion, taking advantage of someone’s innocence, naivety, or gullibility…. or constitutes outright sexual abuse or rape.

And whether there should be a civil or criminal punishment for someone who misrepresents — or outright lies — about their age, wealth, or social status, and by doing so, convinces or coerces another person into having sex with them.

Most consensual sex — at least in part — is transactional…..maybe he’ll marry me….maybe she’ll financially support me while I pursue my music career…if I have sex with him he’ll take me to the Hampton’s and we’ll socialize with professional athletes and Hollywood movie stars and I’ll never have to work a day in my life.

PHYSICAL ATTRACTION:

It’s true, sometimes sex is just…..sex.

You meet at a nightclub, bar, or online. And perhaps you’re just uninhibited enough from the alcohol to have a one-night stand.

The transaction isn’t monetary or romantic, and there is no implicit or explicit understanding that the sex will lead to…
