You Are Replaceable

No matter how smart, funny, creative, or intelligent you are…there is always someone who will take your place when you’re gone

That doesn’t mean you’re not special, unique, or capable of doing great things.

It doesn’t mean you shouldn’t fantasize about writing a great novel, opening a lucrative business, or finding your soulmate.

But your life will miraculously change once you truly accept that graveyards are full of indispensable men.

Our ego is almost impossible to tame.

Anyone who says they don’t like compliments, affirmations, and social media ‘likes’ is lying.

Sometimes it helps to say out loud, “Everything I can do someone else can do better.”

Or, “The woman who swore I rocked her world, was lying.”

Even as I write this piece, a little voice in my head still thinks I’m indispensable, unique, and special.

On some level, I believe I’m irreplaceable.

Maybe that’s the secret to happiness

Purposeful, metacognitive delusion.

There truly is a sense of divine resignation — relief actually— when we finally mature out of our delusions of grandeur and recognize our immortality.
